We went swimming in November in Sicily!

Our vacation has begun!

Before parting ways for good, we embarked on a journey to Sicily and would like to share with you how it went and the extraordinary moments we experienced. This experience was all about relaxation, a passion for good food, and the wonderful world of wine.

Our journey started at the foot of Mount Etna, where we had the privilege of exploring Rosario's organic vineyard. Immersed among the grapevines, we learned the art of cultivating ancient varieties of citrus, discovering the care taken to cultivate the land and keep it as uncontaminated as possible. The tasting of natural wines that followed was a unique sensory experience, where the flavors of the land and Rosario's stories merged in every sip. All accompanied by the best arancini from Catania, specially brought for us.

We then ventured to the enchanting Isola Bella in Taormina on November 3rd. Despite the autumn season, we plunged into the sea, enjoying a refreshing dip in one of Sicily's most famous landscapes.
As we ascended the slopes of Mount Etna, we stopped at the Stanza Terrena, immersing ourselves in the volcanic winemaking traditions, tasting unique wines, and discovering a different and ancient concrete production process. The cherry on top was the sight of one of the world's largest barrels, an imposing testament to the wine richness of the area in the last century.

Continuing towards the picturesque south of Sicily, in San Lorenzo di Marzamemi, we succumbed to a little excursion in one of the most Instagrammable squares in the area. Marzamemi is truly enchanting with its tables by the sea, right at the water's edge. Nearby, Cantina Marilina welcomed us for a tour, introducing us to its exceptional macerated wines. Something incredible! Truly!

This adventure allowed us to connect with the roots of Sicilian cuisine, explore millennia-old winemaking traditions, savor local delicacies, and enjoy the beauty of iconic places like Etna, Isola Bella, and Marzamemi. The final stop, to bid a fond farewell to our friend Tancredi, was in Palazzolo Acreide, where the Agrimontana festival was celebrated—a tribute to products from these areas, like the delicious Black Nebrodi Pig Sausage! Mouthwatering!

We are grateful to share this experience with you, and we are confident that the images and stories will transport you directly to these magical lands.

Keep following us to discover new stories and stay updated on our culinary adventures.

Greetings from the entire Staff of La Baia!
